BASEBALL PLAYERS SIGN LETTERS OF INTENT
Two Southwest Tennessee Community College baseball players have signed
National Letters of Intent to continue their education and baseball careers
at four-year colleges.
Jamie
Carrico, a sophomore at Southwest, has signed with Delta State University in
Cleveland, Mississippi, one of the top Division 2 baseball programs in the
country. As a freshman, Carrico compiled a 6-4 record with a 2.79 earned run
average, and struck out 64 batters in 67-2/3 innings of work. Carrico played
high school baseball at Bolton High School.
Drew
Buford, a sophomore at Southwest, has signed with Arkansas Tech University
in Russellville. As a freshman, Buford was the Saluqis’ closer, recording
a team leading six saves with a 3.38 earned run average. Buford is
from McGehee, Arkansas.
“This
is a great opportunity for both Jamie and Drew,” said Southwest head
baseball coach Johnny Ray. “Not only are they getting a chance to
continue their baseball career, but more importantly, they are going to
continue their education at good institutions. Both have meant a lot to the
success of our program. I am sure they will continue to do the same at the
next level.”
