SOUTHWEST
BASEBALL TEAM TO PLAY IN INAUGURAL NOSTALGIA
MAN CLASSIC AT AUTOZONE PARK
The Southwest Tennessee Community College baseball
team has been chosen to participate in the first ever Nostalgia Man Classic
on February 16-17, 2004, hosted by the Memphis Redbirds at AutoZone Park. In
addition to Southwest, the classic will include Crichton College,
LeMoyne-Owen College, and Rhodes College. Southwest,
the only two-year college invited to play in the tournament, is scheduled to
play two games on Monday, February 16, against LeMoyne-Owen at 10 a.m.;
followed by a game against Crichton College at 4:00 p.m.
“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our program,” said
Southwest head baseball coach Johnny Ray.
“We continually put a good product on the field. This is a chance
to prove what we can do. The Southwest baseball program has produced four consecutive
seasons of at least 30 wins, and it’s time for people to take notice.”
General admission tickets for the Nostalgia Man Classic will be consigned to
each team for sale. These
all-inclusive passes will be sold for $15 each. The pass allows entry for
all five games and serves as a voucher good for a future weekday Memphis
Redbirds game. To purchase
tickets, or for more information, contact Southwest head baseball coach
Johnny Ray at (901) 333-6060.
