SOUTHWEST BASEBALL TEAM WINS ONE OF THREE TO OPEN TJCCAA PLAY

The Southwest baseball team won one of three games against Cleveland State over the weekend at First Tennessee Fields in the TJCCAA opening series. After losing the first game of Friday’s doubleheader 7-3, the Saluqis came back to defeat Cleveland State 6-4 in game two before losing game three on Saturday 6-4.

In Friday’s win, Daniel Hill and Devin Hicks each hit two-run home runs for Southwest. Nick Purcell was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits and no earned runs in 5-2/3 innings. In the three game series, Chris Coleman (pictured at right) had six hits (including four doubles) and drove in four runs.
