Team Wins One of Three Against Jackson State
The Southwest baseball team went 1-2 in a three-game conference series
against Jackson State over the weekend, losing on Friday afternoon 5-1, and
splitting a doubleheader Saturday, winning 8-3 and losing 14-0.
In the win Saturday, pitcher Jamie Carrico earned his first win of the
season, allowing only four hits and striking out six in 6-1/3 innings of
work. Right fielder Josh Meeker was the hitting star with three hits, a home
run, and three runs batted in. In addition, Wes Melton, Chris Rogers, Mark
Schildmeier, and David Neal all hit doubles.
The Saluqis travel to Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville,
Mississippi tomorrow for a 1 p.m., doubleheader. Southwest travels to
Tullahoma, Tennessee, this weekend for a three-game conference series
against Motlow State Community College. Game times will be a single game at
2 p.m., Friday, followed by a noon doubleheader Saturday. The next home game
will be Tuesday, March 9, against Three Rivers Community College. |
