SALUQIS SWEEP COLUMBIA IN BASEBALL

The Southwest baseball team improved its conference record to 5-3 with a sweep of Columbia State on Sunday afternoon in Columbia, Tennessee. The Saluqis pounded out 28 hits in the doubleheader to win the games by scores of 8-4 and 12-7.

Sophomore Colby Fitzpatrick (Fayette Academy) was the winning pitcher in game one and freshman Justin Wright (Bartlett) earned the win in game two. Freshman designated hitter Chris Coleman (Germantown) had five hits and four RBI in the two games including two doubles and his second home run of the season. Other top hitters on the day were sophomores Corey Rudolph (Bartlett) with five hits, a double, triple, and four RBI, Billy Ray Todd (Bartlett) with four hits including three doubles and a triple, and Devin Hicks (Bartlett) with four hits, a double, and three RBI.
