SOSA AGAIN NAMED CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Southwest
sophomore catcher Elvis Sosa has been named the Tennessee Baseball Report
TJCCAA Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Sosa followed up
his stellar week against Jackson State by going 8 for 11 against Roane State
last weekend.
In the three-game series, Sosa had two doubles, a triple and a home run. In
Friday’s 3-2 win over Roane State, he tripled to drive in the game-tying run
and later scored the game-winner. Sosa went 7 for 7 in Saturday’s
doubleheader sweep of Roane and for the series drove in three runs, scored
four runs, and stole a base.
Sophomore pitchers Jason Adams, Darren Wills and Ivan Nails were also
commended for their performances against Roane as the group combined to
limit Roane to one earned run (two total runs) and strike out 24 in 23
innings of work.
