SALUQIS BASEBALL TEAM WINS TWO OF THREE AT VOL STATE

The Southwest baseball team defeated Volunteer State in two games over the weekend to improve their record to 21-11 overall and 10-5 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.

In the series opener on Friday, Brit Vincent had four hits to lead a 12-hit attack as the Saluqis defeated Vol State 17-6. Southwest broke open a close game with five runs in both the eighth and ninth innings. In the first game on Saturday, Brad Tillman's sacrifice fly scored Michael Pinkston with the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth as Southwest defeated Vol State 7-6. Southwest scored six runs in the top of the first, highlighted by Ryan Orr's leadoff home run. Michael Steele picked up the win in relief, while Drew Buford earned the save. In the series finale, Vol State defeated the Saluqis 5-4 in eight innings.
