SALUQIS' BASEBALL TEAM SWEPT BY
BATON ROUGE
The Southwest baseball team was swept by Baton Rouge Community
College in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Gagliano Field by
scores of 4-3 and 6-2, dropping its record to 15-33 on the season.
Freshman
Billy Ray Todd (pictured at left) was the Saluqis' hitting
star with five hits on the day and also made several outstanding
catches in left field. Other top hitters in the doubleheader were
sophomore shortstop Philip Gibson and freshman catcher Jordan
Wakefield with four hits each and sophomore third baseman Clay
Wright with three hits including a double.
Freshman Brandon Goodman turned in an solid pitching performance in
game one, scattering eight hits and allowing two runs in eight
innings of work. Freshman Tim Harmon pitched well in the second
game, allowing four hits, two earned runs, and striking out five in
six innings.
