TEAM DEFEATS WALTERS STATE IN SERIES FINALE
Josh Meeker's three-run triple highlighted a seven-run second inning as the
Southwest baseball team defeated Walters State Community College 9-7
Saturday afternoon in the final game of a three-game series at Gagliano
Field. Meeker was also the winning pitcher, improving his record to a
perfect 6-0 on the season. The Saluqis are now 22-13 overall and 11-7 in the
Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.
In Friday's single game, Walters State defeated the Saluqis 3-1 in 14
innings despite outstanding pitching performances by starter Daniel Adams
and reliever Charlie Ligon. Adams allowed only three hits and struck out 10
batters in seven innings, while Ligon allowed only two hits and struck out
five in five innings. In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, the
Saluqis lost to Walters State by a score of 7-0. |
