SALUQIS DEFEAT WALTERS STATE IN SERIES FINALE

The Southwest baseball team defeated Walters State Community College 14-7 Saturday afternoon in the final game of a three-game series in Morristown, Tennessee.

The Saluqis, now 22-18 on the season, were led by freshman pitcher Charlie Ligon, who picked up his first win, allowing only one hit and one unearned run in 5-1/3 innings of relief. Top hitters for Southwest were
sophomore infielder Reggie Huguet (2 for 3 with a home run and four runs batted in) and sophomore catcher Jacob Barker (3 for 3 with four runs scored.)

The Saluqis lost the first two games of the series --16-5 Friday afternoon, and 6-2 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Southwest will host Chattanooga State this weekend in a three-game series at Tony Gagliano Memorial Field.  Game times will be 4 p.m. Friday (single game) and noon (doubleheader) Saturday.
