SOSA NAMED ALL-DISTRICT
Southwest catcher Elvis Sosa has added All-East Central District to
his long list of honors for the 2006 season. Sosa, a native of Carolina,
Puerto Rico, transferred to Southwest after playing as a freshman at
Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He has signed to play next
season at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Sosa set a new Southwest single season record with 13 home runs and also
led the Saluqis with a .392 batting average, 48 runs batted in and a
.743 slugging average. In addition to All-East Central District, Sosa
was named first All-TJCCAA, runner-up for TJCCAA Player of the Year,
All-Region VII and Tenneseee Baseball Report Player of the Week (in
back-to-back weeks).
