SOUTHWEST BASEBALL PLAYERS NAMED ALL-TJCCAA
Two
Southwest baseball players have been selected to the 2006 All-TJCCAA

from Carolina, Puerto Rico, was named to the first team while sophomore
second baseman Preston Burleson of Germantown High School was a third
team pick.
Sosa, who transferred to Southwest from Union University, batted a
team-leading .392 with a school-record 13 home runs. Runner-up for
TJCCAA Player of the Year, he also led the Saluqis with 48 runs batted
in and a .743 slugging average. At his best in conference play, Sosa had
a .452 batting average with 11 home runs and a staggering .935 slugging
average in 27 TJCCAA games.
After
sitting out last year, Burleson (pictured at right) returned to the Southwest baseball team
and was one of the Saluqis’ top performers in 2006. He was second on the
team with a .364 batting average and led Southwest with 44 runs scored,
20 doubles and a school-record 20 hit-by-pitch. Burleson was outstanding
in conference play with a .410 batting average with 13 doubles in 29
