WHITE SIGNS WITH SALUQIS
Phillip White, who led Milan High School to
a 41-3 record and the Class AA Tennessee State Championship this spring,
has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Southwest. White, a
pitcher-infielder, was named all-district and was selected the West
Tennessee Player of the Year.
”We are thrilled to have a player with the ability that Phillip has,” said
Southwest head coach Johnny Ray. “Not only is he a great athlete, but he
is a tremendous person as well. He should fit nicely into our program.”
White
batted .434 his senior season with 11 home runs and 46 runs scored and
compiled a 7-0 record as a pitcher. White was one of the top hitters in
the 2004 state tournament with a .538 batting average, and also hit three
home runs in one region tournament game. His junior year, White led Milan
to a 24-13 record and the district championship. A four year starter, he
batted .411 in 2003 and led the team in seven offensive categories. White
was coached at Milan High School by Donny Joyner.
