HORN LAKE STANDOUTS INK WITH
SALUQIS
Southwest head baseball coach Johnny Ray has announced the signing of
two players from Horn Lake (MS) High School.
Brett Jenne, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder, batted .511 as a senior
with two home runs, 16 runs batted in, and 18 stolen bases. An
All-Chickasaw Conference selection this spring at Horn Lake, Jenne
previously played at Cordova High School, where he was named All-District,
All-Region and All-Metro his junior year. He was Cordova’s top hitter in
2003 with a .429 average, 17 doubles, 5 triples, 37 runs scored, and 28
RBI. As a pitcher, Jenne posted a 4-2 record with 53 strikeouts and 38
innings and allowed opponents to bat only .140 against him.
Ivan Nails, a right-handed pitcher and infielder, batted .386 with 18 RBI
and 11 stolen bases. As a pitcher, Nails had a 1-4 record with two saves,
a 3.11 earned run average, and struck out 35 batters in 36-2/3 innings of
work.
“Both players are very talented and will have a chance to help us
immediately,” said Ray. “They come from a solid baseball program and know
what it takes to win.” |
