BASEBALL TEAM SIGNS CORDOVA PITCHER
Southwest baseball coach Johnny Ray has announced the signing of
left-handed pitcher Adam Hampton from Cordova High School to a national
letter of intent.
”Adam is a very hard working young man with tremendous upside,” said
Ray. “He had a fantastic summer and progressed into a very fine pitcher.
I expect Adam to come in and bid for mound time right away.”
Hampton, who played for former Saluqi baseball player Mike Vanaman at
Cordova High, posted a 4-2 record with a 3.96 earned run average his
senior season. In the spring of 2005, Hampton helped lead Cordova to a
28-10 record and the district and regional championships. This summer,
he had an outstanding 9-1 pitching record while playing for the Memphis
Tigers’ Connie Mack team.
