SALUQI JOSH TRANUM SIGNS WITH DUBOIS COUNTY |
| Josh Tranum, who
played for the Saluqis' baseball team in 1999 (when the school was known
as Shelby State Community College) has signed to play with the DuBois
County Dragons of the independent Frontier League. Tranum, a product of
Bolton High School, was an All-Western Division and All-Conference
outfielder for Saluqis' coach Doug Darnall, set the school's single
season record with an .824 slugging average, and also led the team with
eight home runs. "Josh has the potential to play at the professional
level, and I'm glad the Dragons gave him the opportunity," said Darnall.
Josh played the 2001 season at Freed Hardeman University in Henderson,
Tennessee, where he was named second team all-conference. He has also
played the past four seasons with the Memphis Royals semipro team,
managed by Southwest media representative for sports information Keith
Gentry. "We're excited about Josh's capabilities and what he can do at
the professional level," said Dragons' manager Greg Tagert. "It's a good
opportunity not only for him, but for our team as well." The DuBois
County team, located in Huntingburg, Indiana, begins its 2002 season on
May 29 against the Gateway Grizzlies. |
