SWEEP LAMBUTH JV |
| The Southwest
Tennessee Community College baseball team swept Lambuth University's
junior varsity in a doubleheader Monday afternoon in Jackson, Tennessee.
Freshman catcher Jacob Barker's three-run homer highlighted a five-run
first inning in game one as the Saluqis held on to defeat Lambuth 11-9.
Sophomore second baseman Corey Kines went 3 for 3 in the first game,
including a double and three runs batted in. Sophomore David McQuilliams
was the winning pitcher, with freshman Scott Nobles earning the save. In
the second game, Barker homered again and freshman rightfielder Dusty
Harris blasted his second round-tripper of the season to lead Southwest to a
8-6 win. Freshman pitcher/shortstop Marshall Mullins picked up his first
win of the season, had two base hits, and drove in two runs. The
victories gave Southwest four straight wins after losing two games to open
the season. The Saluqis travel to the state
of Mississippi this weekend for 1:00 p.m. doubleheaders at Holmes
Community College on Saturday and Pearl River Community College on
Sunday, then play at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in a single game
Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The next home game for the Southwest baseball
team will be Thursday, February 28 against Northwest Shoals (AL)
Community College. Game time for the doubleheader will be 1:00 p.m. at
Tony Gagliano Memorial Field on Mt. Moriah. |
