SALUQIS SWEEP LAMBUTH, TRAVEL TO JACKSON THIS WEEKEND |
| The Southwest
Tennessee Community College baseball won its fourth and fifth games in a
row, sweeping Lambuth University's junior varsity 8-4 and 9-3 in a
doubleheader on Wednesday at Tony Gagliano Memorial Field. In game one,
Hank Pitts went 2 for 3 with a triple and three runs batted in, while
Steven Miller was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters in
four innings. Wes Daniels' inside-the-park home run highlighted the
second game victory. Earning the win in the nightcap was Jay Ham, who
struck out 10 batters and allowed no earned runs in seven innings.
The Saluqis travel to Jackson, Tennessee this weekend
to take on Jackson State Community College in a three-game conference
series. The two teams will play a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. on Friday,
followed by a single game Saturday at 1:00. Southwest enters this
weekend with a 27-16 overall record and 9-6 (second place) in the West
Division of the Tennessee Junior/Community College Athletic Association.
The next home game for Southwest is Tuesday, April
23 against Volunteer State in a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader at Gagliano
