SOUTHWEST MEN SPLIT IN PENSACOLA CLASSIC

The Southwest men’s basketball team split its two games over the weekend in the Collegiate Sports Travel Shootout in Pensacola, Florida, defeating Pensacola Junior College 96-85 on Saturday after losing 85-81 to top-ranked Chipola Junior College on Friday. The Saluqis’ record now stands at 12-3 on the season.

In Southwest’s win over Pensacola, the Saluqis overcame a nine-point halftime deficit, outscoring Pensacola 60-40 in the second half on the strength of 65 percent field goal shooting. Several players had outstanding games for Southwest, including Lester Hudson (pictured at left) (22 points, 6 assists), Moraye Ivy (20 points, 10 rebounds), Anthony Pigram (19 points), and Donald Boone (18 points).

The Saluqis’ next game will be on Friday, January 13 against Chattanooga State Technical and Community College at the Verties Sails Gymnasium.
