SOUTHWEST LOSES TO ST. CATHARINE

The Southwest basketball teams were swept by St. Catharine College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in St. Catharine, Kentucky. In the women's game, the Lady Saluqis lost by a 89-74 margin, despite a career-high 25 points from sophomore guard Christhol McClain. The loss dropped the Lady Saluqis' record to 6-10 overall and 1-7 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.

St. Catharine defeated the Saluqi men 121-83, giving Southwest its first conference defeat of the season. The Saluqis now stand at 13-5 overall and 7-1 in the TJCCAA. Leading scorers for Southwest were Brian Kizzie and Antwon Bess with 18 points each.

The Saluqis and Lady Saluqis travel to Jackson, Tennessee on Thursday night to play Jackson State Community College in another conference matchup. The women's game is scheduled to tipoff at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men at 8:00.  Play-by-play for both games can be heard locally on WUMR 91.7 FM.

The next home game will be Saturday afternoon, when Southwest takes on Columbia State Community College. Game times for Saturday's games will be 2:00 for the women and 4:00 for the men.
