SOUTHWEST SWEEPS JACKSON

Brian Kizzie scored a career-high 30 points and dished out 12 assists to lead the Saluqis to a 97-95 victory over 12th-ranked Jackson State Community College on Tuesday night in Jackson, Tennessee.  The Southwest men played one of its best games of the season, shooting 55 percent from the field, 86 percent from the free throw line, and outrebounding the Generals 40-32. Also scoring in double figures for the Saluqis were Albert Jones with 13 points, and Zach Bright and Eric Christopher with 10 points each.  The win improved the men's record to 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.

Larisha Graves scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Saluqis past Jackson by a score of 86-78.  Christhol McClain added 17 points, while point guard Lakus Bonner had her best game of the season with 14 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and six steals.  With the win, the Lady Saluqis improved to 7-10 overall and 2-7 in the TJCCAA.

Southwest returns to action this Saturday, February 1, when the Saluqis and Lady Saluqis take on Columbia State Community College at the Verties Sails Gymnasium.  Tip-off for the women's game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., followed by the men at 4:00.
