2005-2006 BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
The Southwest men’s and women’s basketball schedule takes on a
different look for the 2005-2006 season as for the first time the Saluqis
and Lady Saluqis will play two games each against both (formerly) Eastern
and Western Division opponents. All twelve colleges in the Tennessee Junior
and Community College Athletic Association will play a 22-game conference
schedule this season.
The 2005-2006 season will begin on Saturday, October 22 when both teams
will play exhibition games. The Saluqi men will take on the Spirit
Express at 2 p.m., followed by the women's game against the State Liners at
4 p.m. On Saturday, October 29, Southwest will play the Saluqis and
Lady Saluqis' alumni at 6 p.m. (women) and 8 p.m. (men).
The regular season will begin on Tuesday, November 1, when Southwest
will host Coahoma Community College. TJCCAA play will begin on Friday,
November 11 when Southwest takes on Roane State Community College at the
Verties Sails Gymnasium.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will play in tournaments this season as
well. On December 28-29, Southwest will host the Lady Saluqis Classic, while
the Saluqi men will travel to Pensacola, Florida on December 30-31 to
compete in the Pensacola Collegiate Sports Travel Classic.
Southwest will host the Region VII Tournament March 7-12, 2006 at the
newly renovated Verties Sails Gymnasium. The renovation project includes a
new gym floor, chair back seats, weight room, and concession stand. The
men’s and women’s tournament champions will advance to the National Junior
College Athletic Association national tournament March 21-25.
