SOUTHWEST WOMEN WIN, MEN LOSE TO ALUMNI IN EXHIBITION GAMES

The Southwest basketball teams opened the 2004-2005 season on Friday night at the Verties Sails Gymnasium against the Saluqis’ alumni. The Lady Saluqis defeated the alumni team by a score of 79-64, while the Saluqi men lost 107-101.

In the women’s game, Lakeisha Jackson scored 14 points and Kenya Moore added 13 points to lead the Lady Saluqis’ scorers. Other top performers for the Southwest women were Alexis Jackson (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocked shots), Ashley Mason (8 points, 9 rebounds), Imesia Jackson (8 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocked shots), and Porshia Willis (8 points, 4 assists).

The Saluqi men were led by Chris Prince, who led all scorers with 21 points and also led the team with 11 rebounds. Other players in double figures were Anthony Pigram (20 points, 6 three-point field goals), Wallace Cochran (16 points, 8 rebounds), and Dee Burchett (13 points, 7 rebounds).
