BOONE INKS WITH ARKANSAS STATE
Donald
Boone, who led the Southwest basketball team to the
Region VII championship and a berth in the National
Junior College Athletic Association tournament in both
2006 and 2007, has signed a National Letter of Intent to
extend his basketball career and education at Arkansas
State University.
“Arkansas State is getting an outstanding young man and
a tremendous basketball player”, said Southwest men’s
basketball coach Verties Sails Jr.
Boone was selected first team All-American by the NJCAA
after leading the Saluqis to a 28-7 record last season
and an eighth place finish in the national tournament,
where he was named to the All-Tournament team. He was
voted by the coaches as Player of the Year in the
Tennessee Junior and Community Athletic Association and
was named Most Valuable Player of the Region VII
Tournament after leading Southwest to its second
straight championship and national tournament
appearance.
Boone led the Saluqis in several statistical categories
last season, including scoring (17.2), rebounding (6.6),
steals (2.8), and three point percentage (.400). He
scored a career-high 32 points against Northeastern in
the NJCAA Tournament.
