LADY SALUQIS DEFEAT ROANE STATE IN CONFERENCE OPENER 

Sophomore forward Latoyia Hill scored 21 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the Southwest women's basketball team to a 85-68 win over Roane State on Friday night in Harriman, Tennessee. Other Lady Saluqis' performances were by sophomore point guard Lakus Bonner, who had possibly the best all-around game of her career with 14 points, nine assists and eight steals, and sophomore forward Jacki Jackson, who made all seven of her shots and scored 14 points. 

On Saturday afternoon in Morristown, Tennessee, the Lady Saluqis lost to Walters State 78-68 after trailing by 23 points at the half (52-29). Freshman guard Katresha Glass was the leading scorer with 15 points. The Southwest women's record is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association. 

The Southwest men's basketball team lost both of its games over the weekend - 88-79 to Roane State on Friday night and 93-91 to Walters State on Saturday. Sophomore forward Kevin Dilworth, a transfer from Wabash Valley College, averaged 16.5 points for the two games, including a game-high 19 points in the loss to Walters State. The Saluqis' record now stands at 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the TJCCAA.
