SOUTHWEST HOSTS SALUQI CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND
The Southwest men’s basketball team, currently undefeated and ranked
fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association, will host the
six-team Saluqi Classic this weekend at the Verties Sails Gymnasium.
Games will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 24 with Genesis One
Christian Academy (MS) vs. Volunteer State followed by Howard (TX) vs.
Columbia State at 6 p.m. and Southwest vs. Cincinnati State at 8 p.m. On
Saturday, November 25, action gets underway at noon with Columbia State
vs. Genesis One, followed by Volunteer State vs. Cincinnati State at 2
p.m. and Southwest vs. Howard at 4 p.m.
Saturday afternoon’s match-up between Southwest (6-0 record) and Howard
(6-0 record) will feature two teams ranked in the top ten in the
country. Southwest is number five while Howard is ranked eighth in this
week’s NJCAA poll.
