SOUTHWEST BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANK HIGH IN TJCCAA
Sixteen Southwest men’s and women’s basketball players are ranked among the
statistical leaders this week in the Tennessee Junior and Community College
Athletic Association. The Saluqi men are currently 11-2 overall and are in
first place in the TJCCAA at 9-2. The Lady Saluqis are 7-6 overall and are
tied for fourth place in the conference with a 6-5 record.
The
Southwest men lead the TJCCAA and are third in the nation in scoring offense
at 99.8 points per game and are also first in scoring margin at 22.3.
Sophomore forward Moraye Ivy (pictured at right) is listed in the
most categories (5) of any Southwest player. He ranks 2nd in steals (2.8),
13th in rebounding (5.7), 14th in assists (3.2), 18th in 2-point field goal
percentage (54.1), and 20th in scoring (13.3). Sophomore guard Anthony
Pigram is the conference leader in free throw percentage (100.0) and also
ranks 10th in steals (2.0), 11th in three-point field goal percentage
(40.0), and 15th in scoring (14.2). Sophomore guard Lester Hudson, the
Saluqis’ leading scorer, ranks 10th in steals (2.0), 11th in scoring (15.1),
and 19th in assists (3.1).
Several other Saluqi players are also listed in this week’s report. Freshman
forward Greg Grimes is 6th in blocked shots (1.3), 7th in rebounding (6.6),
and 13th in 2-point field goal percentage (58.2); freshman guard Donald
Boone is 5th in steals (2.2), 14th in 2-point field goal percentage (57.3),
and 18th in free throw percentage (73.9.); freshman point guard Nathan
Walton is 4th in assists (4.1); sophomore forward Anthony Barbee is 4th in
2-point field goal percentage (63.6); and freshman forward Chris Evans is
16th in rebounding at (5.5).
The
Lady Saluqis rank second in scoring offense at 77.5 points per game and
fifth in scoring margin at 4.1. Sophomore forward Imesia Jackson
(pictured at left) leads the conference in rebounding with an average of
11.6 per game and also ranks high in blocked shots (2nd at 1.2), scoring
(7th at 17.2), and 2-point field goal percentage (16th at 52.9). Sophomore
guard Porshia Willis is another Lady Saluqi who is listed in four
categories. She is 6th in assists (4.1), 10th in three-point goal percentage
(39.6), 14th in steals (2.0), and 20th in free throw percentage (75.0)
Other Lady Saluqis listed this week are freshman guard Tameka Wooten, who is
7th in assists (4.1) and 9th in steals (2.4), freshman guard Gina High, who
is 3rd in assists (4.7) and 18th in 3-point field goal percentage (34.6),
freshman forward Tonya Walker, who is 5th in 2-point field goal percentage
(63.4), freshman forward Michelle Malone, who is 8th in blocked shots (0.8),
and freshman guard Jasmine Massey, who is 15th in three-point field goal
percentage (35.9).
