SOUTHWEST DEFEATS JACKSON STATE
The Saluqis' basketball teams swept Jackson State in a men's and women's
doubleheader on Thursday night as Southwest celebrated Homecoming at the
Verties Sails Gymnasium.
Freshman forward Tiffany Webb scored a career-high 34 points and grabbed
11 rebounds to lead the Lady Saluqis to a 99-91 win. Also in double
figures for Southwest were sophomore guard Christhol McClain with 18 points
and a career-high nine assists, and sophomore guard Larisha Graves with 13
points. The win improved the Lady Saluqis' record to 10-12 overall and
5-9 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.
The Southwest men defeated Jackson State by a score of
74-69. Only two Saluqis scored in double figures - sophomore guard Ben
Mitchum and freshman swingman Londrick Nolen, both with 10 points.
Nolen also led Southwest with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. The
Saluqis' record is now 18-6 overall and 12-2 in the TJCCAA.
Next up for the Southwest basketball teams is a road trip to Columbia State
Community College on Saturday. Game times are 2:00 p.m. for the women
and 4:00 p.m. for the men.
