RUCKER LEADS BALANCED SCORING IN LADY SALUQIS’ WIN

Rucker (pictured at right) scored 21 points to
lead five Southwest players in double figures as the
5th-ranked Lady Saluqis’ basketball team defeated
Volunteer State 96-58 on Saturday afternoon at the
Verties Sails Gymnasium. The win improved their record
to 21-0 on the season including 14-0 in the TJCCAA.
All twelve players played at least ten minutes and
scored for Southwest. Other top scorers were Starkitsha
Luellen (15 points, game-high 11 rebounds), Cristil
Camper (15 points), Daumonique Lenhardt (14 points, four
assists, five steals), and Tiesha Hughes (11 points,
three assists). The Lady Saluqis shot 54.3 percent from
the field while limiting Vol State to just 27.3 percent.
Southwest also outrebounded the Lady Pioneers by a 56-37
margin.
JOHNSON SCORES 29 AS SALUQIS BEAT VOL STATE
Dominique
Johnson (pictured at left) scored 29 points,
connecting on five three-point field goals, to lead the
Southwest men’s basketball team past Volunteer State
106-87 on Saturday afternoon at the Verties Sails
Gymnasium. The Saluqis improved to 20-4 overall and 11-3
in the TJCCAA.
The only other Southwest players in double figures were
DeAngelo Riley and Leon Martin with 16 points each.
Southwest outrebounded Vol State by a whopping 50-29
margin, led by Jeremy Rodgers’ 15 boards.
