Sophomore forward Londrick Nolen scored 58 points in two
games last week to lead the Southwest men's basketball team to wins over
nationally-ranked Jackson State on Thursday night and Columbia State on
Saturday afternoon.
Nolen scored a career-high 35 points in the 85-77 win
over Jackson State, which entered the game ranked 17th in the latest
National Junior College Athletic Association poll. In the Saluqis' 86-83 win
over Columbia State, Nolen led the team with 23 points, including 18 in the
first half. Freshman forward Randy Young was the Saluqis' top rebounder for
the week with a total of 19 in the two games, including 12 against Columbia
State. The wins improved the Saluqis' record to 8-9 overall and 6-5 in the
Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.
Sophomore forward Tiffany Webb scored 20 points,
grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked five shots to lead the Southwest women to a
87-75 win over Jackson State on Thursday night. Also scoring in double
figures for the Lady Saluqis were sophomores Kaia Richardson with 19 points
and Latoyia Hill with 14 points. The Lady Saluqis lost 51-43 to Columbia
State on Saturday, despite another outstanding game from Webb, who scored a
game-high 14 points. The Southwest women's record now stands at 9-9 overall
and 5-6 in the TJCCAA.
