The Saluqis and Lady Saluqis basketball teams continued their winning ways last Friday night at the Verties Sails Gymnasium, sweeping Cleveland State Community College as Southwest celebrated Homecoming.

The Saluqi men, ranked 9th in the latest NJCAA Division I basketball poll, crushed Cleveland State 116-83 to improve to 19-3 overall and 16-2 in the TJCCAA. The Lady Saluqis defeated Cleveland State 91-71 for their sixth straight win and are now 15-7 overall and 12-6 in the conference.

In the women’s game, Imesia Jackson scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and Priscilla Campbell (pictured at left) added a career-high 20 points to lead the Lady Saluqis to victory. Also scoring in double figures for Southwest was Jasmine Massey with 12 points. The Lady Saluqis turned in another fine defensive effort, limiting Cleveland State to only 37.5 percent field goal shooting for the game and forcing 23 turnovers.

The Saluqi men cruised to their seventh straight win as six players scored in double figures. Southwest was led by Donald Boone (pictured at right) with 20 points and Darius Simmons with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Other top scorers for Southwest were Lester Hudson (18), Anthony Pigram (14), Greg Grimes (11) and Chris Evans (10).
