KIZZIE AND BESS LEAD SALUQIS
PAST ST. CATHARINE
Sophomore point guard Brian Kizzie scored a career-high 31 points and dished
out eight assists, and sophomore guard Antwon Bess added a season-high 25
points to lead Southwest over St. Catharine College 114-85 on Thursday night
at the Verties Sails Gymnasium. Sophomore forward Albert Jones also
recorded a career-high with 18 points, hitting on 9 of 10 field goal
attempts. Jones and sophomore center Zach Bright had nine rebounds
apiece as Southwest outrebounded St. Catharine 53-34. The win improved
the Saluqis' record to 16-6 overall and 10-2 in the TJCCAA.
St. Catharine won the women's game in a shootout 107-101, despite
career-highs from Saluqis' sophomore guard Christhol McClain (28 points) and
freshman forward Kaia Richardson (23 points, 14 rebounds.) Also in
double figures for the Lady Saluqis were freshmen forwards Patrice Middleton
(career highs of 13 points and 11 rebounds), sophomore guard Larisha Graves
(11 points), and freshman forward Tiffany Webb (10 points.) The loss
dropped the Lady Saluqis' record to 8-12 overall and 3-9 in the conference.
Both teams will travel to Gallatin, Tennessee this Saturday to take on
Volunteer State Community College. The women's game is set to tip-off
at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men. Play-by-play for both games can be
