HILL LEADS LADY SALUQIS PAST VOL
STATE
Sophomore guard Latoyia Hill scored a game-high 18 points to lead the
Southwest women's basketball team to an 81-46 win over Volunteer State
Saturday afternoon at the Verties Sails Gymnasium. The Lady Saluqis held a
42-21 halftime lead behind the scoring of Hill and the rebounding of Julia
Cole, who grabbed nine of her team-leading 14 rebounds in the first half.
The Southwest women's record improved to 11-9 overall and 7-6 in the
Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.
In the men's game, the Saluqis dropped a 94-91 decision to Vol State.
Leading the Saluqis in scoring was freshman point guard Jerry Dover, Jr.,
who scored 17 points, including 15 (on five three-point field goals) in the
second half. Londrick Nolen added 13 points and a career-high 12 assists,
while Anthony Barbee and Kevin Dilworth came off the bench to score 14
points each. The Saluqis' record is now 9-10 overall and 7-6 in the TJCCAA. |
