SALUQIS LOSE TO TOP-RANKED TEAM

The Southwest men's basketball team lost 86-63 to number one ranked Southeastern Iowa in the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament on Thursday night Hutchinson, Kansas. 

The Saluqis held an early lead, led by the play of sophomore center Zach Bright, who scored nine of his 13 points in the first half. In addition, Bright led the team with seven rebounds as Southwest out rebounded the Iowa team 45-41.  Also scoring in double figures for Southwest was sophomore point guard Brian Kizzie with 13 points. 

Despite the loss, the Saluqis, now 24-7 for the season, still have an opportunity to finish as high as fifth place in the sixteen-team tournament.

 The next game for the Saluqis will be today at 3:30 p.m. against Okaloosa-Walton (FL).  The game will be broadcast on WUMR FM 91.7.
