SOUTHWEST WOMEN FINISH SEASON AS REGION RUNNERUP

The Southwest Tennessee Community College women's basketball team was defeated by 10th-ranked Hiwassee College 77-64 on Sunday afternoon in the TJCCAA/Region VII Tournament championship game at Copperweld Arena in Lynchburg, Tennessee.   Four Southwest players scored in double figures, led by Latoyia Hill with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. 

The Lady Saluqis reached the championship game by defeating Chattanooga State 69-65 in the quarterfinals, then upsetting 9th-ranked Walters State 67-52 in the semifinal game.  In the win over Chattanooga State, Julia Cole led the team with 17 points and 17 rebounds, and Lakeisha Jackson also scored 17 points. Jackson also led the team in scoring against Walters State with 22 points, making five three-point field goals.      

The Southwest women ended the season with a 15-12
record.  Two Lady Saluqis' players were named to the all-tournament team - Julia Cole and Lakeisha Jackson.
