SOUTHWEST BASKETBALL TEAM SIGNS FOUR
Southwest men’s basketball coach Verties Sails,
Jr. has announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent
for the 2004-2005 season.
“We’re very satisfied with the
players we’ve signed,” said Sails. “We’re hoping, with hard work, they can
help us get back to where we always want to go – the national tournament.”
Moraye Ivy, a 6’5” guard from Memphis Central High School, averaged 19.5
points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game as a senior. Ivy was named
first team All-District 16AAA, The Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps
Team, and honorable mention All-State.
Jeffrey Jones, a 6’6” forward from Holly Springs (MS) High School, averaged
11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game his senior season. Jones helped lead
Holly Springs to a 30-4 record and the Class 3-A Mississippi State
Championship.
Kelvin Lewis, a 6’2” guard from Melrose High School in Memphis, averaged 8.0
points per game during the 2002-2003 season. As a senior, Lewis helped lead
Melrose to a berth in the Region 8AAA tournament.
Jeremy Marrs, a 6’10” center from Parkin (AR) High School, averaged 18.0
points, 15.0 rebounds, and 8.0 blocked shots per game as a senior. |
