LADY SALUQIS BASKETBALL TEAM PARTICIPATES IN
AMERICA'S WALK FOR DIABETES
The Southwest women's basketball team recently participated in America's
Walk for Diabetes at Poplar Plaza. This was the second straight year
the Lady Saluqis have taken part in the event.
Former Lady Saluqi point guard Lakus Bonner, who played for Southwest from
2002-2004, is a diabetic and was instrumental in the team participating in
America's Walk for Diabetes last year. In addition, Bonner returned to
walk with the 2004-2005 team in this year's event.
America's Walk for Diabetes is the American Diabetes Association's signature
special events fund-raising campaign. This event raises nearly $20
million to find a cure for diabetes and to support the ADA's mission.
