SOUTHWEST CHEER SQUAD SELECTED
Tryouts for the Southwest cheerleading squad were held on Friday and
Saturday, September 8-9 at the College’s Union Avenue Campus, and
fifteen squad members were selected for the 2006-07 season.
“We have a great group of cheerleaders this year and I’m excited about
the upcoming season,” said Southwest cheerleading coach Sabrina Tiller.
“We’re looking forward to performing and entertaining the crowds at the
Southwest basketball games and also preparing for competitions. Every
year we strive to do better than the year before. Last year was a very
busy but exciting year for us and we hope this year will bring as much
excitement!”
Squad members who were selected are: Lyisha Allen, Jasmine Austin, Janae
Banks, Nicole Bibbs, Britney Bolton, Celita Brown, Renell Collier,
Barbara Foster, Tanesha Jackson, Shundra King, Valli McElroy, Penny
Pinkston, Latrina Ward, Chyra Willis, and Breeze Wright.
The Southwest cheerleaders attend all home basketball games as well as
several away games, represent the College at different Southwest and
community functions, and perform at national competitions throughout the
year
