SOUTHWEST TO HOLD
CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
Interested student-athletes are invited to the
open tryouts for the 2004-2005 Southwest cheerleaders, yell-leaders, and
mascot Thursday-Saturday, September 23-25 at the Nabors Auditorium on the
College’s Macon Cove Campus. The tryouts, which are open to both men and
women, will begin with prelims at 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, September
23-24. Finals are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 25.
Members will be selected by a panel of judges.
Led by second-year Cheerleading
Coach Sabrina Tiller, the Southwest Cheer Squad
performs at men’s and women’s basketball games, and also represents the
College at different Southwest and community functions during the school
year.
“I am very excited about this new team and upcoming cheer season,” said
Tiller. “As head cheerleading coach, I look forward to working with an
energetic group of men and women. I have set high expectations for the
cheerleading program. The Southwest faculty and coaching staff will work
hard to ensure this upcoming school year will be productive on and off the
court. Let’s go Saluqis!”
Cheerleading Requirements:
Must be a full-time student at
Southwest (at least 12 hours)
Must have basic tumbling skills
Must have at least two years of cheerleading/dance or majorette experience
Must be knowledgeable of basic cheerleading terminology
Must have a positive
attitude!
Attire for tryouts:
Ladies – t-shirt or aerobics tank
top, shorts or dance pants, sportsbra, socks, gym shoes
Gentlemen – t-shirt, shorts or workout pants, socks, gym shoes
*All fitness attire
must be tasteful.
Students
interested in trying out should turn in a completed application before
September 21 to the Southwest Student Activities Office (Union Campus B-106
or Macon Campus FA-2101.)
