Tennessee Community College men's and women's basketball teams both
defeated Volunteer State Community College Saturday afternoon at the
Verties Sails Gymnasium.
Torre Thomas scored 18 points to lead the Lady
Saluqis past Vol State 68-62 for their second straight victory.
Thomas, a sophomore from Fayette-Ware High School, added team-highs in

season. Also scoring in double figures for
the Lady Saluqis were freshman Christy Craig (Bolton High) with 16
points, and freshman forward Jordan Morgan (Millington Central High)
with 11points.
In the men's game, sophomore Larry Wells
(Westwood High) led the Saluqis with 21 points, freshman guard Antwon
Bess (Hamilton High) came off the bench to score 17 points, and
sophomore center Cedric Bryson (Hamilton High) had one of his best
games with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocked shots. The win was
the third in a row, and sixth of the last seven games for the Saluqis,
now 11-8 overall and 5-3 in the TJCCAA.
Next up for the Saluqis and Lady Saluqis will be
a matchup with Jackson State Community College on Thursday night at
the Verties Sails Gymnasium. The women's game will begin at 6:00 p.m.,
followed by the men at 8:00 p.m. Jackson State's men's team enters the
game ranked 19th nationally by the National Junior College Athletic
Association. |
