The Southwest
Tennessee Community College men's and women's basketball teams will
take on Coahoma (Miss.) Community College of Clarksdale, Mississippi
on Thursday, November 15. The games will be held at the Verties Sails
Gymnasium on the Union Campus, with the women's game beginning at 6:00
p.m., followed by the men at 8:00 p.m. (This will be the home opener
for the Lady Saluqis.)
Coach Verties Sails' men's team has a 1-2
record, and are coming off a 112-111 loss to Southeastern Illinois
last Saturday night. The Saluqis, ranked 10th nationally in the NJCAA
pre-season poll, are led by sophomore forwards Lou Wright (31.7 points
per game) and Cortez Stigger (29.0).
Coach Andrea Martre's women's team has an 0-2
record, and have not played since losing at nationally-ranked Walters
State on November 3. The Lady Saluqis are led by sophomore center
Latoshia Bailey, who leads the team in scoring (19.5 points per game)
and rebounding (13.0), and sophomore guard Torre Thomas (13.0 points
and 4.5 assists per game).
