COACH SAILS WINS 500TH!
Congratulations to Southwest men's basketball coach Verties Sails, who won his 500th game Saturday afternoon as the Saluqis defeated Columbia State 102-75. Leading the team were sophomore Lou Wright, who scored all 24 of his points in the first half, and freshman Antwon Bess, who scored 22 points. The Saluqis shot an outstanding 59 percent from the field, including 72 percent in the second half. Southwest also out-rebounded Columbia State 41-30 (led by Bess with 7) and committed only 12 turnovers.

The Southwest women lost a 72-58 decision to Columbia State, ending a three-game winning streak by the Lady Saluqis. Top scorers for Southwest were sophomore Latoshia Bailey, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore Torre Thomas, who added 11 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals.

Both the Saluqis and Lady Saluqis travel to St. Catharine (KY) this Friday night, then to Gallatin, Tennessee on Saturday afternoon to take on Volunteer State in the final regular season game.
