Tennessee Community College women's basketball defeated conference foes
Dyersburg State and St. Catharine College to improve to 9-13 overall and
5-7 in the Tennessee Junior/Community College Athletic Association. The
Lady Saluqis have now won five of their last six games heading into the
final two weeks of the regular season.On
Tuesday night, the Southwest women defeated Dyersburg State 66-61 at the
Verties Sails Gymnasium. The Lady Saluqis were led in scoring by
sophomore guard Torre Thomas with 18 points. Also in double figures were
sophomore forward Larica Seals with 15 points and freshman forward
Jordan Morgan with 12.
The Lady Saluqis played one of their best games of
the season on Saturday night at Southwest's homecoming, defeating St.
Catharine 86-68. Sophomore center Latoshia Bailey posted a triple-double
with 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots, with four other
players also scoring in double figures: Larica Seals (16), Torre Thomas
(14), Christy Craig (13), and Christhol McClain (11). Southwest outrebounded
St. Catharine by a 63-48 margin, led by Bailey, Seals (12), and Samika
Thompson (11), and held SCC to only 28.4 percent from the field.

COLUMBIA SATURDAY IN HOME FINALE
Next up for the Saluqis and Lady Saluqis will be a road trip to
Jackson State Community College this Thursday night. The women's game
will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the men at 8:00 p.m. The teams will return
home this Saturday against Columbia State for the final home games of
the season. The Lady Saluqis will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the
Saluqis at 4:00 p.m. at the Verties Sails Gymnasium on the Union Campus.
