LADY
SALUQIS SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES AT U of M TOURNAMENT
Despite losing four games in the Tiger Fall Tournament over the weekend, the
Southwest softball team was very competitive in each game against quality
competition. The Lady Saluqis lost games to The University of Memphis
(7-1), Christian Brothers University (7-4), Henderson State University (5-0),
and Northwest Mississippi Community College (8-6).
Several Southwest players had outstanding tournaments at the plate. The
Lady Saluqis were led in hitting in the four games by freshmen Whitney Grimes
(four hits, double, RBI), Maegan Wilson (four hits, double, RBI) and sophomore
Staci Craig (3 hits, double, RBI). Also with two hits in the tournament were
sophomore Brooke Hively (who played her first games since ACL surgery last
spring) and freshmen Amber Gatewood, Whitney Witcher and Jackie Lloyd.
The Lady Saluqis will return to action this Saturday in a noon doubleheader at
Rhodes College.
