SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM DEFEATS RHODES TO OPEN SEASON
The Southwest softball team opened the 2006 season on Wednesday,
February 15 with an 8-1 victory over Rhodes College at Buckhead Creek
Recreational Complex.
 Sophomore
pitchers Allison Mullins and Erica Brich combined to limit Rhodes to only
three hits and one unearned run in seven innings. Hitting stars for the Lady
Saluqis were freshman catcher Anna Carter (pictured at left) (single,
double, 3 runs batted in), freshman centerfielder Carrie Byram (single,
triple, stolen base, 2 runs scored), and freshman shortstop Jessica
Hefflinger (triple, 2 runs batted in).
Southwest returns to action on Wednesday, February 22 against East
Mississippi Community College in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Buckhead Creek.
