SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM WINS ONE OF FOUR AT TIGER
FEST
The Southwest softball team traveled to Booneville,
Mississippi over the weekend to compete in the Tiger
Fest Tournament and went 1-3 in the four games. The Lady
Saluqis’ record now stands at 10-8 on the season.
The
Lady Saluqis defeated the host team Northeast
Mississippi 2-1 in the first game as Gina High drove in
Tonesha Webb with the game-winning run in the seventh
inning. Staci Craig was the winning pitcher, allowing
three hits, no earned runs, and striking out seven.
Southwest lost the remaining three games to Snead State
(10-2), Three Rivers (6-3) and Holmes (5-4). Top hitters
in the tournament for the Lady Saluqis were Craig (5
hits), Caryn Hubbard (4 hits), and Anna Carter
(pictured at right) (3 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI).
