SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES IN TIGERFEST TOURNEY
The Southwest softball team lost five games over the weekend at the
TigerFest Tournament in Booneville, Mississippi dropping its record to 10-17
on the season.
The
Lady Saluqis lost games to Mississippi Gulf Coast (6-2), Jefferson State
(3-1), Northeast Mississippi (4-2), East Mississippi (11-5) and Northeast
Mississippi (6-5)
Top hitters for Southwest during the tournament were Gina High (6 for 14),
Jennifer Davenport (pictured at left) (5 for 12), Carrie Byram (6 for
15) and Lindsey McGoff (4 for 13). Davenport also hit the Lady Saluqis’
first home run of the season in the East Mississippi game.
Last Wednesday, the Lady Saluqis swept a doubleheader sweep of
Independence (KS) Community College at Rhodes College. In the first
game, pitcher Erica Brich allowed no earned runs
and struck out a school record 12 batters as the Lady Saluqis won 6-2.
