SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH DYERSBURG, CRAIG SETS
WIN RECORD
The
Southwest softball team split doubleheader with
Dyersburg State on Wednesday afternoon at the Buckhead
Creek Recreation Complex, winning game one 5-4 and
losing the second game 4-3.
In the first game, the Lady Saluqis came from behind
to win the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Whitney Grimes reached base on a fielder's choice, which
was the second out of the inning. After stealing
second, Grimes then scored the tying run on a single by Alyse
Brewer. Jackie Lloyd replaced Brewer as a
pinch-runner then scored the winning run on a double by Whitney Witcher. Grimes also
drove in the Lady Saluqis' first two runs of the game
with a double in the fifth inning. Staci Craig
(pictured above left) was the winning pitcher, improving
her record to 12-7 on the season and setting Southwest
records for most wins in a season (12) and career (22).
