SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL DROPS TWO TO COLUMBIA

The Southwest softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Columbia State on Saturday afternoon at the Buckhead Creek Recreation Complex by scores of 3-0 and 8-5. The losses dropped the Lady Saluqis’ record to 17-26 overall and 4-10 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.

In game one, Allison Mullins pitched an outstanding game despite the loss, allowing only one earned run in seven innings.

The Lady Saluqis had 10 hits in the second game, including three by Jessica Hefflinger and a two-run homer by Caryn Hubbard (pictured at right), her first round-tripper of the season. Top hitters on the day for Southwest were Gina High (3 for 5), Hefflinger (3 for 6) and Ashley Forrest (2 for 3).
