SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM WINS THREE OF FOUR
The
Southwest softball team won three of four TJCCAA games over the weekend,
splitting a doubleheader at Cleveland State on Friday (11-1, 3-6) and
sweeping Hiwassee (12-1, 5-4) on Saturday in Madisonville, Tennessee. The
Lady Saluqis improved their overall record to 14-19 on the season including
3-5 in the conference.
In the doubleheader against Cleveland State, the Lady Saluqis pounded out 26
hits, led by Anna Carter (5 for 6), Carrie Byram (4 for 8, triple, 5 RBI),
Jessica Hefflinger (pictured at left) (4 for 7), Erica Brich (4 for
8), and Caryn Hubbard (3 for 6, double).
In Saturday’s twin-bill against Hiwassee, Southwest continued its hot
hitting with a total of 17 hits in the two games. Top hitters for the Lady
Saluqis were Hefflinger (4 for 6, 2 doubles, 5 RBI), Brich (4 for 7, 2 RBI),
and Jennifer Davenport (3 for 6, 2 doubles, 2 RBI).
Brich, who pitched in all four games including three starts, improved her
record to 10-8 on the season and raised her season strikeout total to 111.
